From Micro-Financing to Lasting Environmental Action
Partners: Association Club Bleu Artisanal • WWF North Africa • EcoJil
About the Project
RESILIENCE represents an important stage in a longer journey of collaboration, learning, and local environmental action

The project came after three previous micro-financing experiences, which progressively strengthened the association’s capacity to design, implement, and develop environmental initiatives. Rather than being an isolated intervention, RESILIENCE was built on this accumulated experience and on relationships established through previous collaborations.
In 2023–2024, the project focused on raising awareness about marine turtle conservation while introducing children and local communities to the fundamentals of environmental education. Through awareness activities and educational actions, participants were encouraged to better understand marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting marine turtles.
A Continuity That Created New Opportunities

One of the most significant achievements of this journey was the continuity of collaboration and local initiative.
The successive micro-financing opportunities did more than support individual activities. They helped create a space where ideas could evolve, partnerships could deepen, and local actors could gain the confidence and experience needed to develop new initiatives.
It is within this dynamic that EcoJil was created and launched, building on the experience, partnerships, and environmental education work developed through the previous projects.
This evolution demonstrates how small-scale funding can become a catalyst for long-term change when it is combined with committed local leadership and a willingness to continue creating beyond the lifetime of a single project.
Follow-up, Monitoring & Continuity
Monitoring and follow-up were integrated throughout the project to ensure that activities were not limited to one-off awareness actions but contributed to a continuous process of environmental learning and engagement

Beyond the Funding Cycle
The impact of the collaboration did not end with the completion of RESILIENCE.
The continued support of the donor to the association has contributed to maintaining this dynamic, while the commitment of the project manager/coordinator has been essential in transforming each opportunity into a new step: continuing to work, developing new ideas, creating initiatives, and building new partnerships.
This is where the value of micro-financing becomes particularly visible. A relatively small grant can generate a much broader impact when it contributes to the capacity, confidence, networks, and leadership of local actors.
A Journey of Growth
The story behind RESILIENCE can therefore be understood as a progression:
Micro-financing 1 → Micro-financing 2 → Micro-financing 3 → EcoJil Club→ RESILIENCE → Continued Action
Each project became a building block for the next.
RESILIENCE is consequently not only a project about marine turtle conservation. It is part of a long-term process of local capacity building and environmental engagement, demonstrating how sustained collaboration can transform short-term financial support into initiatives with lasting potential.
This experience also reflects the broader vision of She4Sea—She for a Sustainable Mediterranean Sea: investing in people, supporting local initiatives, empowering women and young generations, and creating the conditions for environmental action to continue and grow. 🌊
The funding may support a project for a year. The real impact begins when people continue creating after the project ends.
